What it looks like

From paper to live, in three steps.

01

Photograph what you already have

Open the Marpass intake screen, point your phone at the page, and tap. Paper MAR. Doctor order. Med list. Shift schedule. License. One snapshot per document, no scanning station needed.

02

Marpass extracts the structured data

Our AI reads each medication name, dose, frequency, route, and PRN flag. It pulls every resident from the roster, every signature line from the MAR, and matches them to FDA drug records.

03

You confirm before anything goes live

Marpass shows you exactly what it read with a confidence score next to each field. You correct anything that looks off, sign once, and the eMAR is ready for your next pass.

What stays the same

Your routine, your team, your residents.

  • Your paper binder stays in the home, many homes keep it for the first month as backup.
  • Your existing pharmacy, doctors, and orders. We work with whatever you already have.
  • Your routines: morning pass, evening pass, PRN, treatment notes, same flow, on a phone.
  • Resident dignity. Marpass never opens medication info to people who shouldn’t see it.

What changes

The slow, error-prone parts go away.

  • No more transcription errors from re-typing handwritten orders.
  • Real-time compliance status instead of finding gaps at survey time.
  • Family updates without manual phone calls or paperwork.
  • Audit-ready documentation that builds itself as your team works.

Common questions

Things owners ask before they switch.

How long does the photo extraction actually take?

About 30 seconds per document. A typical home with 6 residents goes from paper to a live eMAR in 10–15 minutes. We stay on with you for that first session so you can confirm everything looks right.

What if the AI reads something wrong?

It tells you. Every extracted field shows a confidence score. Anything below 95% is flagged for your review. You always sign off before anything is saved as the source of truth.

Do I have to throw away my paper records?

Absolutely not. Washington requires you to retain records for at least 3 years after the resident leaves. Keep your binder. Marpass becomes your day-to-day system; the binder becomes your archive.

What if my handwriting is rough?

Most paper MARs we’ve tested on are easy for the AI to read because they follow a predictable structure (resident name, med, dose, time, initials). When something is genuinely illegible, Marpass marks it for human review instead of guessing.
