Adult family home exterior in autumn light
Our Story

We Built Marpass Because Nobody Else Would

The software industry forgot about small care homes. We didn't.

The Moment

It started at a kitchen table

It was 10 PM on a Sunday. I was sitting at the kitchen table of an adult family home I knew, surrounded by three-ring binders. The owner, a brilliant caregiver who could calm a sundowning resident and run a complex medication regimen from memory, was hand-copying orders onto paper MARs. Her phone buzzed. A caregiver couldn't read the handwriting on a PRN note. State inspection was Tuesday.

I'd watched this scene play out for years. Smart, dedicated owners losing entire weekends to paperwork that purpose-built software should make routine. Choosing between actually caring for people and documenting that care.

So I asked the obvious question: why doesn't that app exist?

The Gap

Two options. Both terrible.

When we looked at the software market for adult family homes, we found exactly two choices, and neither one worked.

Tens of thousands of adult family homes across the country were stuck in this gap. Too small for enterprise software, too regulated for pen and paper. The industry simply didn't care enough to build for them.

Option A: Enterprise Software
Built for 200-bed facilities. Costs $500+/month. Requires weeks of training and a full IT department. Overkill for a home with 6 residents.
Option B: Paper and Binders
Handwritten MARs. Filing cabinets. Spreadsheets. Leads to medication errors, failed inspections, and owners working every weekend.
Marpass: built on purpose
Purpose-built for homes that grew up small and stayed close. Affordable. Intuitive. Everything in one place. No IT department required.
Our Mission
"Every resident in every home, no matter how small, deserves the same quality of care documentation as a 200-bed facility."

Marpass exists to close that gap. We're building care-home technology that's affordable, intuitive, and designed for the way care homes actually work. at every size. Purpose-built from day one. Scales from a single AFH to a multi-state portfolio.

Who We Are

Industry insiders, not outsiders

Our founding team brings over a decade of direct experience in adult family home operations, compliance, and caregiving. We experienced these problems firsthand, watching good caregivers drown in paperwork while the software industry ignored small facilities.

We've sat through state inspections. We've seen the panic when a binder is missing a signature. We've watched owners choose between providing care and completing documentation. A choice nobody should have to make.

That lived experience shapes every feature we build, every workflow we design, and every decision we make.

We know the daily reality
Med passes at 6 AM. Documentation between meals. Inspections with no warning. We build for that reality.
We understand compliance
Not from reading regulations, but from living with them. Every feature is built with inspectors in mind.
We obsess over simplicity
If a caregiver needs training to use it, we failed. Every screen should be obvious at 6 AM on three hours of sleep.
Our Conviction

Care homes deserve technology that matches the way they actually work

From a single adult family home to a multi-state assisted living portfolio. every operator deserves tools that match the quality of care they provide.

Personal care matters at every scale

Adult family homes brought us here. small, intimate, kitchen-made. Larger communities serve more people who deserve the same dignity. Marpass honors both. Same product, same humans on support, same transparent pricing whether you run two beds or two thousand.

Paper puts residents at risk

Handwritten MARs lead to misread dosages. Missing signatures become compliance citations. When documentation fails, care fails. Digital systems prevent the errors that paper invites.

Compliance shouldn't be terrifying

No owner should lose sleep before an inspection. With the right system, compliance is a byproduct of doing your job, not a separate, overwhelming task.

Caregivers should focus on care

Every minute spent on paperwork is a minute not spent with residents. We believe technology should give that time back, not create more busywork.
